My First Visit
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine the source of your symptoms and any other restrictions that may be limiting your function or performance. The therapist will provide thorough education about your injury or condition and create an individualized treatment plan, taking time to answer any questions you may have along the way. You should expect to receive hands-on treatment during your first visit to begin reducing your pain, as well as instruction in a home exercise program to help you continue your progress between visits.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing or athletic wear and tennis shoes. Make sure that we’re able to easily access any areas of your body that are painful or restricted (e.g. shorts instead of jeans for knee pain).
If you’re being seen for aquatic therapy, you may either wear a bathing suit or athletic shorts and a t-shirt. You must bring your own towel to each visit. We also recommend that clients purchase a pair of water shoes to provide better traction on the bottom of the pool.
Is there anything I should bring with me?
Please bring any doctor’s notes, operative notes, or imaging reports (x-ray, MRI, CT scan) if applicable. Also make sure to bring your desired payment method to be collected during your visit. You may want to bring a water bottle.
If you have any other questions prior to your first appointment, please feel free to contact us by either phone or e-mail. We look forward to guiding you on your health and fitness journey!
