Blue Blaze Hiking Club – South Fork River Trail
When: Saturday, September 10 – 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Cost: FREE
Join the Blue Blaze Hiking Club on a 4-mile hike along the South Fork River Trail in McAdenville. This moderate hike is suitable for all ages and dogs are welcome too! Afterwards head to the Blue Blaze taproom for a drink and food from a local food truck. Registration for this free event can be found here.
Charlotte Open Water Championships
When: Saturday, October 8 – 8:00 a.m.
Cost: 2-mile race $50; 800-yard fun swim $25
The third and final event in the 2022 Charlotte Open Water Swim Series. This event includes a 2-mile loop course for more serious competitors or an 800-yard close-to-shore swim for beginners. Check out the sign-up page to learn more.
Build Your Own Boat Competition
When: Saturday, October 15 (float test on October 14 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.)
Cost: $40
Put your boat building skills to the test against class II-IV rapids at the Whitewater Center. Enter as an individual or a group of 2-4 and compete for awards based on course completion and style.
CLT Runway 5K
When: Saturday, October 22 – 7:30 a.m.
Cost: $35
For the second time in its 15-year history the Runway 5K will take place entirely on the runway and taxiways of the Charlotte Douglass International Airport. During the race participants will get to see planes queuing up, taking off, and landing. Registration is limited to the first 1500 participants so make sure you reserve your spot today!
Long Creek Adventure Race
When: Saturday, November 12
Cost: 4-hour race $50; 8-hour race $60
Open to individuals or teams of 2-4 competitors, this multidisciplinary race will test your endurance and navigational skills along 30-60 miles of trails, flat water, paved roads, and forested land. Use the provided map to locate checkpoints situated throughout the Whitewater Center property as quickly as possible. Race information and registration can be found here.
